The 7 Most Instagrammable Spots In The Bahamas

The Bahamas is comprised of 700 islands (mostly uninhabited), off the south coast of Florida. A popular sun spot for Americans, it’s also a great destination for travellers from all over the world.

Scuba diving and snorkeling sites include the massive Andros Barrier Reef, Thunderball Grotto (used in James Bond films) and the black-coral gardens off Bimini.

1. Atlantis Paradise Resort

Atlantis Paradise is a lush, oceanside resort located on Paradise Island is the most popular resort destination in the Bahamas.

It features the world’s largest open-air marine habitat; Aquaventure water park, with the iconic Mayan Temple’s Leap of Faith slide. Super glam, and super fun.

2. Wild pigs on the Exumas

You can swim with wild pigs on Big Major Cay, also known as Pig Beach (for obvious reasons!)

There’s about 20 pigs and piglets on Pig Beach and you can splash around with them in the crystal clear waters. Make sure to get a selfie with the #swimmingpigs for your Bahamas Instagram.

3. Compass Cay Nurse Sharks

You can’t visit the Bahamas without swimming with these photogenic Nurse Sharks. Although actually a type of catfish, the ‘sharks’ look just like predators.

Head to Compass Cay where you’ll find these surprisingly friendly group.

4. Grand Bahama

Grand Bahama is one of the most developed islands,  home to the buzzy city of Freeport. There’s also a historic small town and several picturesque fishing villages.

The entire island is gorgeous. Stay in a luxury resort on one of the pristine beaches for the ultimate break.

5. Queen’s Staircase

The Queen’s Staircase, also known as ‘The 66 Steps’, is on Nassau Island. It was carved out of solid limestone rock by slaves between 1793 and 1794 to make a shortcut from Fort Fincastle to Nassau.

Fun fact: the pathway to the stairs was paved over, so you can only see 65 steps.

6. Parliament Square

The flamingo-pink buildings on Parliament Square are ideal for Insta. They’re excellent examples of the colonial architecture of old Nassau.

Official meetings are still held here by local government. Have you ever seen a prettier building?

7. Harbour Island

Harbour Island is 100% the best spot for a tropical escape in the Bahamas. The long pink sand beaches, pineapple fields and beautiful hotels are out of this world.

It’s a little hard to get to, but definitely worth it. Our tip? Rent a golf cart to fully explore the island. It’s heaven.
