Rio de Janeiro has always been one of the most iconic cities in the world with instantly recognisable landscapes and landmarks.

The Brazilian city, which stretches form Copacabana beach to the Sugarloaf Mountain, is a destination that does every little thing in spectacular fashion.

1. Christ the Redeemer

2. Sugarloaf Mountain Cablecar

The  Rio de Janeiro cable car goes from Praia Vermelha to the top of the Sugarloaf Mountain at 1300 foot. You’ll get spectacular shots at the summit, but if the light is right the shots from the ride up (or down) can be even more impressive. You’ll find more info here.

3. Boulevard Olimpico

The biggest mural in the world is all the more impressive because it was completed in just 40 days, during the lead up to the 2016 Olympics. You’ll find more info here.

4.  Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden

A fashionable area of Rio that’s home to leafy streets and high end fashion boutiques. It also has a beach of the same name, which is a Mecca for surfing and beach sports.

Quite possibly the most famous beach in the world and a wonderful place for people watching. On New Year’s Eve it welcomes millions of people who ring in the new year. The beach itself runs for a total of 4km.
