With travellers starting to think about shaking off the winter cold and hitting up Europe for their holidays over the coming months, we thought we’d put together the list of the ultimate burgers so that you’re never stuck for your cheat meal fix again.

Best Burgers Europe
These burgers are so big that you may have to go the knife and fork route, but the truly brave will try to tackle these burgers in one go. A great sports bar with plenty of cold beer on tap to wash it all down with.
Beaver Brewing Company is an American style craft brewery where the beers are fantastic; the only thing that enhances the experience even more is the their wonderful big, tasty burgers.
So much thought goes into creating each one of these unique masterpieces that when it comes to the table you don’t know if you should admire and photograph it, or just stuff it straight into your mouth. We’ll opt for the latter…
Forget about the traditional tapas and wine for one evening and come down to Alfredo’s Barbacoa for one of these truly unique burgers. They have some unusual salsas and toppings for those looking to liven things up.
You wouldn’t expect to find burgers this good in the land of pizza and pasta but they have absolutely smashed it out of the park here. Top quality buns with meat that is juicy beyond belief.
Real Hamburgueria are taking burgers in Portugal to a whole new level with their delicious combinations that have the city of Porto all beating down the door to get in here.

La Esquina does amazing huge portions where you can build your own burgers to your personal tastes. Super friendly staff and a buzzy room make it the perfect place to start a night out with a few beers.
They now have locations across three countries, but this chain still keeps its local feeling and cooks up epic burgers with great sides. Throw in a good Belgian beer and this is the dream.
A group of guys who are super passionate burgers. They do offer a superb steak burger but the way to go here is with the classic beef with cheese and bacon. It comes served on wooden boards and a serious meal if you can finish it all.
Franky’s Kitchen started in 2014 from a 12 sq meter street-grill in central Stockholm, but since then word of mouth has spread across the city and the burgers are worshipped far and wide.
Otto’s is wildly popular with the locals and not hard to see how. Huge portions, freshly cooked burgers and a huge variety in the menu means there’s something for everybody here.
Almost Famous have locations around the north of England and their burgers are so pretty and droolworthy that they take over Instagram feeds like nothing else. They also happen to taste outrageous.
This is the perfect burger for either the start of a night out or on the way home from the bar, given their late opening hours. It’s big on flavour with more locations opening all the time.
Ter Marsch & Co do a classier style of burger with some swag, this is a beautiful piece of work to pick up in your hands and absolutely devour.
Street Burgers do huge tasty burgers served with a big selection of craft beers. Their menu is super extensive with their own suggestions or you can create your own masterpiece.
Burger Van Bistro have the confidence to keep things simple with small patties, really good quality buns and a minimum of toppings, combined to create a simple masterpiece.
Roomies does big, BIG burgers, so if you don’t control them they’ll be all over you – in a good way. They serve them medium rare in true French-style with really super frites and a good choice of craft beers.
If you mix insanely good burgers with top quality craft beer and do it in a city that’s as much fun as Barcelona is, then you’re onto a home run. That’s exactly what you’ll find here. Great fun with even greater burgers.
2112 do have smaller burgers on the menu, but their special pick weighs in at 666 grams and rightly so – you’ll feel like the devil indeed if you manage to finish it in full.
They focus on cooking the burgers fresh here with amazing ingredients (everybody talks about the bacon) and the end result is an understated, elegant and delicious burger.
Mac & Wild have lightly more luxurious settings than many of the spots listed here, but this modern Scottish-heritage restaurant highlights the absolute best ingredients and makes a burger so good that we’d give up a month’s salary for it.
Ruff’s is huge on portion size and one for those who love struggling – and succeeding – to get the whole burger into their mouth. Their focus on quality ingredients leaves the burger tasting spellbinding.
Estonian Burger Factor do big bold flavours, and with lots of special burgers making regular appearances this the absolute dream. Lots of great house beers to wash them down with too.
This is probably (actually, definitely) the burger spot with the nicest view on the entire list. You’ll be sitting in this party capital eating their delicious selection of burgers with the sun on your back.
They focus on super quality organic ingredients here, which you can taste in the end product. There’s a huge variety in the toppings and meats you can order, meaning you might never have the same burger twice.
Not only are you getting a world class burger here, but you also get to combine it with the famous Belgian “frites” and their beer, which is widely regarded as the best in the world .
This burger joint is an institution for locals in the hip meatpacking district. Nothing beats hanging out here with a few good friends, stacking up on burgers and fries.
Social Burgerjoint have four locations around the city and started off by making their burgers super classical in style and taste. Just about big enough to get into your mouth but the double patty is only for the serious eaters. Delicious.
They keep the burgers small and tight so that they can actually fit in your mouth in one go. This matched up with some of their awesome craft beers and you have a terrific meal on your hands.
`This famous steakhouse started life in London, but sitting in the bar here in Manchester with one of their classic burgers (and maybe one of their famous cocktails to wash it down with) should be illegal it’s so much fun.
What started off as a tiny “hamburguesería” in 2010 has expanded into one of the city’s best burger outlets, with locations across Spain. They do big, juicy and utterly mouthwatering burgers, and you can choose from beef, lamb, chicken, veg or more.

Projekt Burger have perfected a classic burger with their unique sauce that is the stuff of legend. It’s just the right size that you don’t have to worry about it falling apart and can fit it all in your mouth. Well, just about!
Bread Meats Bread certainly don’t hold back on the cheese, and some people have even been known to go for the triple patty burger in their order. There’s some serious eating in this one.

Simon runs his burger operation from a 1975 Citroen van. You can find him in a brewery, selling burgers at pop up events and even running a burger catering operation.
You’ll have to follow his social channels to track down the latest locations, but when you do, you’ll be rewarded with a burger that is good enough for heaven.

Locals are obsessed with this chain and it’s not hard to see why. Bunsen make their own buns, grind the beef and keep things remarkably simply with a small menu. Their shakes are an added bonus.
This spot does simple, tasty burgers without too much fuss, served up in a buzzy room that’s the perfect place to share a couple of beers with friends before a night out. They prove that burgers don’t need to be over complicated when the raw ingredients are this good.
Bamba Marha Burger Bar goes big on the toppings and there’s lots of variety to be had on the menu. The portions are super generous and with fries you’ll do well to finish the whole meal.
These are burgers of the messy variety and we are absolutely A-OK with that. Patty and Bun also have quite possibly the greatest Instagram account we have ever seen – the slightest glance at it could end the best planned diet in seconds.
Dish in Prague mince all their own meat and keep their combinations super simple, relying on the quality of the ingredients. A spectacular burger that you can’t actually fault in any way.
These guys are winning awards left, right and centre for their burgers around the world and it’s not hard to see why. Epic levels of tastiness.
