Copenhagen is a paradise for coffee lovers, so caffeine fiends will be well looked after here. The Danes are super passionate about coffee, and this comes across in the vast range of independent roasters, cosy cafes and hip coffee shops across the city.
Whether you want a dark and rich espresso or a creamy flat white, these are Copenhagen’s best coffee shops…
Best coffee Copenhagen:
Owners David and Sara are clearly coffee mad, and they’ve teamed their drinks up with a super strong food menu that helps both elements shine and complement each other. A wonderfully relaxing place to spend time with friends.
CUB, short for Copenhagen Underground Brewers, is in the basement of one of Copenhagen’s many beautiful 18th century buildings, with a second location at Amager Beach. They roast their coffee beans on a Giesen drum roaster several times a week so you’ll always be drinking a fresh cuppa.
Wecycle is not just a place where you can buy vintage bikes and unique bike gear – you can also get an awesome cup of coffee to enjoy instore or takeaway. Everything here is carefully selected for the best quality, from beans to bike seats.
Democratic Coffee specialises in single origin, light roasted coffee and you can also buy their perfectly roasted beans to takeaway. The buttery almond croissants are baked fresh twice a day and are a must-try. A lovely spot to come relax for an hour or so.
Along with their artisan coffee, they serve croissants that are the thing of legends. Sitting out on the terrace here in the summer with an iced drink and freshly baked pastry is one of life’s great pleasures.
This has various locations around the city but for the best experience head to the city centre food market at Torvehallerne, where you’ll find their team dishing up delicious drinks to happy customers who’ve just eaten at the various stalls.
They’ve been driving the coffee scene to new higher levels of perfection in Denmark for years.
The world’s smallest hotel (there’s just one room) and Copenhagen’s smallest coffee shop. You’ll be lucky to nab one of the five seats here. The coffee at Central Hotel & Café is made from freshly roasted beans from Risteriet and the entire cafe just oozes good vibes.
