Take a glance into the world’s largest and most expensive airport ever – the Beijing new airport is opening September 30, 2019.
The capital’s second international airport is a masterpiece in design, costing a huge $12 billion USD. While Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in the US is currently the busiest airport, Beijing’s new arrival is going to surpass it.
Even from the outside, the Beijing new airport looks instantly impressive…
The airport looks like a starfish from above and will have seven runways in total.
While the terminals inside are absolutely beautiful
Clean, bright design mixes Chinese traditions with modern architecture. This is one airport you really won’t mind being delayed in…
It takes less than eight minutes to walk from the security check to the farthest gates
The entire airport aims to keep walking to a minimum, with the farthest gate just 600 metres from security.
Beijing Daxing International Airport will also have a 100% rainwater collection and solar farm to harvest energy.
Two underground floors will connect the airport with the rest of the region through high-speed train, intercity rail links and subways. So you can easily visit anywhere in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei.
The airport took just five years to build – an impressive feat. However, 20,000 people were relocated and 11 villages demolished to make space for it. So, it’s not been a positive development for local people.
Villagers received compensation for the relocation requirements.
The world’s most expensive airport yes, but we’re also calling it the world’s most beautiful. Here’s to a rush of flights to Beijing just to see this!
