Honeymoon Is The Travel Trend Every Singleton

‘Buddymoon’ Is The Travel Trend Every Singleton Has Been Waiting For

Romantic dinners on the beach, sailing the Caribbean on a yacht and getting pamper in a luxury spa – the key elements of any honeymoon, right? That’s all well and good – and believe us, we wanna do it – but the only problem with “honeymoon destinations” is that you kinda need to get married first.

Well, not any more. Praise be to the Single Gods.

‘Buddymoon’ is the genius travel trend that every single person needs to know

Basically, you just need to know somebody getting married. Easy. Buddymoons are when a couple brings a group of friends to tag along on all their amazing honeymoon experiences.

Like a lot of trends, we can thank celebs for kicking it off. Power couple Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux brought friends Chelsea Handler, Jason Bateman and Courteney Cox on their honeymoon in 2015.

It makes sense. Don’t believe us? A 2017 Priceline survey showed 12 percent of couples would consider taking a buddymoon.

The perfect example is at Mexico’s Velas Resorts

Velas Resorts is offering Buddymoon packages for couples hosting their destination weddings at four of its properties.

At Grand Velas Riviera Maya, couples can choose to celebrate with friends before or after their destination party. Have a private cocktail party at the pool before taking a meditation or cooking class, picnic, or eco- tour—complete with a Chaman friendship ceremony; and a golf or spa day.

At Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit, the buddymoon experience starts the moment the couple and their friends and family arrive at the resort

All digital devices will be removed by a personal concierge and replaced with board games and books. Things that will help the couple truly connect with friends and family.

You’ll then relax by a private bonfire (hey, it’s not luxury unless it’s ‘private’, right?) by the beach. Roast marshmallows to the sound of live violin music.

Still not romantic enough? How about a sunset cruise on a 58-foot luxury yacht or Tequila Cream massages.

Yep, we’re down for this. Guess we won’t throw away all those wedding invites anymore if there’s a chance of a boujie vacation to look forward to afterwards…
