How To Get From Hanoi to Da Nang
1. Fly From Hanoi to Da Nang
Unless you’re on a super strict budget, we suggest you just pay a little extra to fly from Hanoi to Da Nang. It costs about $30 USD one way, and takes just 1.5 hours flight – compared to 14 hours+ on a bus or train! There’s at least 20 departures a day, from local airlines including Vietjet Air, Vietnam Airlines, Jetstar, and Bamboo Airways.
2. Take the Train to Da Nang
If you have time to spare and are on a budget, the train is a popular option. The total journey takes between 15 to 16.5 hours, and you can get budget tickets in third-class, over opt for a sleeper carriage if you’ll be travelling overnight.
Keep in mind that the official Vietnam Railways website does not accept payments from international cards, so you will likely have to book your ticket via a third-party site (see below) or in person at the station.
3. Book Tickets in Advance Via Bookaway

4. Take a Bus from Hanoi to Da Nang
This is the cheapest option at just $15 USD for a one-way ticket, but it is also the least comfortable. While most buses are ‘sleeper buses’ ie. seats that lie back at 180 degrees, you won’t have much room to stretch out. The journey is the same time as the train, so factor in 16 hours to reach your destination.
