1. Risotto alla Milanese

Milanese risotto prepared with the original recipe is a very creamy, traditional first course of Lombard cuisine: the famous yellow saffron risotto. Ox marrow and lots of butter add extra flavour!

2. Milanese cotoletta

This crispy breaded cutlet is a must-eat. Veal Milanese very closely resembles Weiner Schnitzel, its Austrian counterpart. The main difference is that Veal Milanese is made using a bone-in cutlet while Weiner Schnitzel is made from a boneless cutlet that has been pounded flat.

3. Ossobucco

Traditionally, ossobucco is with veal shanks, but this recipe uses beef shanks for a budget-friendly version. One of the ways to serve Osso Bucco (Braised Beef Shanks) is over a bed of creamy mashed potatoes with some pan-roasted vegetables on the side and nice red wine.

4. Cassoeula

Cassoeula is a stew of pork meat and cabbage. This is a deliciously hearty stew that is usually served on soft and creamy polenta.

5. Piadina

Piadina is a type of Italian flatbread popular in north of the country.  You then fill the flatbread with a variety of cheeses, cold cuts and/or vegetables.

6. Polenta

A north Italian ‘porridge’ made of coarsely ground cornmeal, polenta is wonderfully creamy, with a lightly sweet, buttery corn flavour. Topped with cheese, herbs, cooked vegetables, or a sauce, it transforms into a mouthwatering comfort food.

7. Panettone

This is a classic Italian Christmas treat! If you’ve never heard of it before, panettone is a sweet bread loaded with candied citron, lemon zest and raisins. It has a cylinder shape from that mould that you bake it in. Yum!
