Monkeys is a casual, laid-back eatery in Deurne, just 10 minutes from the city centre. Super popular with a trendy, young crowd, the menu is chockablock with good things to eat: thick milkshakes, juicy burgers and homemade pizzas.

4. Ellis Gourmet Burger

The name is a reference to Ellis Island near New York which was the main place for Europeans immigrating to the US during the last century. The founders believe the best burgers are in America and want to bring that culture back to Europe, hence the name.

They have four locations in Belgium with plans to expand further in the future. If you live near one of these you’re pretty lucky. The burgers themselves have juicy patties, thick crispy fries and great dipping sauces.

Meat Factory is a carnivore’s heaven, with juicy steaks and stews, but their homemade burgers are reason alone to visit.

They use seasonal ingredients for their burgers and mince and spice the meat themselves, so it’s of the highest quality. The toppings are simple but perfect – add cheese and a side of croquettes.
