A fresh acai smoothie bowl is the ultimate healthy breakfast dish – full of colour and nutrients, and super simple to make. Acai (pronounced ah-sigh-ee) berries are a superfood, packed full of antioxidants and fibre. You’ll find these vivid purple smoothie bowls in almost every brunch hotspot, but why not make your own?
Using just 7 ingredients, you can whip up this delicious breakfast in mere minutes. One spoonful of this tropical beauty and you’ll be transported straight to paradise…
Ingredients
- Frozen Acai (you can buy this in pouches)
- Banana (if you prefer a thicker texture, use frozen banana)
- Blueberries
- Strawberries
- Nut milk (we used almond)
- Cashew nuts
- Hazelnuts
Roughly chop the banana into small pieces. Use a frozen banana (pro tip: slice it before freezing!) if you want your bowl to have more of a ‘soft serve’ texture.
Throw the strawberries into the blender.
Then, add in those juicy blueberries on top…
Add in the banana slices. It’s already looking so good!
Run the pouch of frozen acai under warm water for a few minutes until it defrosts slightly. Pour the entire pouch into the blender.
Slowly blend the mixture, pushing down any fruit with a spoon to make sure it’s nice and smooth.
Once blended, add a splash of almond milk for a nice creamy and nutty taste. Mix it in.
Spoon it into a bowl, and garnish with additional strawberries, blueberries, hazelnuts and cashews. The best thing about making your own acai smoothie bowl at home is that you can top it with anything you like. Coconut shavings are another tasty idea!
