2. Daily Press Coffee

With locations in Bed-Stuy and Ocean Hill, Daily Press Coffee is the sorta neighbourhood cafe we all long for. There’s all the coffee drinks you could ever need: from cortado to cappuccino.

Don’t leave without trying one of the delicious Four & Twenty Blackbird custard pies.

3. Sweatshop Coffee 

Arguably one of the all-time best places for coffee in Brooklyn, Sweatshop Coffee is an Aussie espresso bar & cafe. So yes, it’s basically mandatory that you order a flat white.

Pair your coffee with an egg and bacon brekkie bun, and browse the merch for sale, such as “cool beans” dad caps. If you want to try something different, order the Esky: it’s an Oz spin on a German coffee with ice cream.

4. Gumption

Gumption is an iconic Sydney, Australia coffee spot that recently opened its first US store in Industry City in Sunset Park. They roast their beans on premises in the 6,000 square foot industrial facility using a Loring Kestrel™ 35 kg roaster, for extra freshness.

On tap is their New York spec’d Hammer and Tongs coffee blend for regular drip, as well as milk-based espresso coffees.

This retail store and café in Greenpoint serves up Verve Coffee and freshly baked pastries alongside ceramics, art, jewellery and plants, making it a pretty place to refuel.

Choose your poison from cold brew, single-origin milk coffees or drips, and be sure to take some time to chill out – it’s a beautiful space.

6. Variety Coffee Roasters

A Brooklyn hotspot since 2008, Variety Coffee Roaster have locations in Williamsburg, Greenpoint and Bushwick, as well as Manhattan. They work closely with producers to to ethically source the world’s rarest and most unique green coffees.

7. Devoción

This beautiful Colombian coffee house has several NY cafes, all serving up delicious farm-to-cup coffee. Their beans are dry milled in Bogota, and rapidly shipped to the USA via FedEx for roasting.

Their downtown Brooklyn store even features an indoor tropical garden inspired by Colombia’s rain forest.
