The Top 50 Sexiest Accents in the World

While top-rated attractions and IG worthy destinations are valid reasons to travel, what about the locals? More specifically, what about all those sexy accents you come across? The best accents however are not set in stone. Just as beauty is in the eye of the beholder, the sexiest accents are in the – ears of the beholder (you know what we mean). Some may say French accents are the best accents, others would argue that the Norwegian accent is their number 1. It depends on who you ask, we guess. So that’s what we did.

Here at Big 7 Travel, we’re all about inspiring people to visit somewhere new. There’s almost 7,000 languages in the world, with even more varieties of accents, but which is the best? We looked to our audience to find out your pick for top 50 in 2019.

From lilting Welsh to the language of love…you’ve called it in!

Yeah, nah. I hate my accent. On females the kiwi accent sounds kind of butch. On guys it sounds kind of primal, almost like the Sydney Lebanese accent, but slower and less excited. I think its bearable if from Auckland, low pitched and mischief. Every other time including from my own throat I think it is the unsexiest tonal sound imaginable. Australian accent on ethnic Sydney siders is OK. Melbourne accent I totally dig, bit understated. Queensland accent frankly disgusting, sounds like the cockatiels. That could apply to most regional areas, especially females with high pitched voices.

I often find the Australian accent harsh- “screechy” ) and raising the pitch of words at the end of a sentence ( as one can do in posing a question) makes one sound intellectually challenged! I wonder why many Australian’s pronounce ” Here” with an a at the end, as in “here- a”.

I quite like it though .. in Scotland there’s hundreds of different accents from cities to town to villages.. I don’t understand some Scottish people haha.. a lot of kiwis think I’m Irish also? Nothing like it .. anyway, well done new zealand…. God bless!

There’s not as much variation in the Australian accent as you might find in other countries, but there’s some. The Melbourne accent is very different to the far-north Queensland one. I generally say you can spot someone from Qld. or WA if they ask for a “beeya” rather than a “beeh” (or a beer to other English speakers).

The fact that Australian got 5th place tells me that those who determined this list have never been to western Sydney.

As an Aucklander, our accents have less lilt in them like our Sth Island cousins, and far less screech than our Aussie neighbours bours, we don’t have an accent as far as it goes compared to other NZ areas. I was in Canada visiting my first generation cousins, and they said I have the same accent and way of taking their dad had, he was from Auckland as well, I love hearing Kiwi chick’s talk, but I also love listening to Aussie women talk, well some of them.

If this was the sexiest accent in the world, that would have meant they did survey of all countries which do speak english with their own accents. But looks like not all countries were surveyed. Even then in so many countries, there are variations in accents within each country. So i guess i disagree with the conclusion drawn here, rather than say this was just a way of trying to promote tourism in certain countries.

Corg in Thor:Ragnarok was voiced by a Kiwi, Taika Waititi (who also directed the film). I wasn’t aware of this when watching it for the first time and as soon as Corg started speaking, I just cracked up laughing at his voice which was instantly recognisable as a New Zealand accent. Funnily enough, it really suited him.

Afrikaans is not only sounding well, but is also a very easy language to learn, phonetically strait forward and only three tenses: yesterday, today and tomorrow. I wonder if any language spoken in the world by such a small group of people, produces more literature and songs than Afrikaans. Many books written in Afrikaans were translated into other languages, because of its high standard. Afrikaans is heard all over the world and are being taught in other countries, like Russia, ect. “AFRIKAANS ONS WONDERLIKSTE, SOETSTE TAAL!!!!!!.”

Afrikaans, onze wonderlijkste, zoetste taal. This is in present-day Dutch what you said in Afrikaans. Especially in its written form Afrikaans is for us, Dutch speaking people, perfectly understandable. If you check out you’ll find that I am not Dutch but Belgian. In spite of a widely spread misunderstanding most of the Belgian people are not French-speaking. The standard language in the northern half of the country, which is by far the most populated, is Dutch with a slight accent. Some call it Flemish although there’s a slighter difference between Flemish/Dutch than between Scottish/Queen’s English. I love Afrikaans, it’s sound… Read more »

Kiwi accent number one? Seriously? Kiwi accent shouldn’t be in the top 10, maybe top 50 but definitely not number one. Filipino is 22 Malaysian 39 and New York 44 these rating must be a joke. From this rating it mentioned Malaysian accent simply becoming increasingly Americanised, what wrong with American accent, Americans has beautiful accent. It should be other way around Filipino should be around 40 something and New York move up to top 20 or top 10 at least. These ratings really bad. SHIT

Now I ain’t sayin’ them LA ladies don’t know what they’re doin’
And I been in love with New York City a time or two
I had some Seattle coffee, some Chicago wind
Some Kansas wheat fields I’d love to see again
But the fireflies play where the cattails grow
And them southern girls, they talk nice and slow with
Kisses sweeter than Tupelo honey
Little bit crazy like New Orleans
Memphis blue and Daytona sunny
Soft as cotton in some cut-off jeans
Don’t you know,
Ain’t nothing in the whole wide world
Like a southern girl
