7 Best Kosovo Instagram

The 7 Most Instagrammable Spots In Kosovo

Europe’s newest country (Kosovo declared independence from Serbia in February 2008), this Balkan beauty is a unique place to visit.

While there is still some political unrest in the country, it’s a fascinating place to visit… Just check government travel advice in advance.

It’s one of the last truly off-the-beaten-path destinations in Europe. Want amazing photos from your trip? These are the 7 best places to snap a Kosovo Instagram photo…

1. Prizren

A charming city of 14th century mosques and monasteries that is nestled in a valley between the Sharr Mountains.

Cobblestone streets and a lovely river that runs through the city centre are the perfect photo backdrop. Be sure to eat some of the local barbecue while you’re here!

3. National Library of Kosovo

While some may think this building is ugly, it’s certainly unusual. Located in Pristina, it’s been called a “brutalist eyesore”, but we reckon that it makes for an edgy Kosovo Instagram.

It resembles a mixture of Byzantine and Islamic styles.

4. Soma Book Station

Hands down the best place to eat, drink and hang out in Kosovo. Soma Book Station is a beautiful cafe where the books cover the walls and chandeliers hang from the ceiling.

Plus, the food tastes as good as it looks.

5. Gjakova

A small town in Western Kosovo, Gjakova is breathtakingly pretty. It’s an authentic old town, with cute wooden stores and a vibrant market.

Drive up to Çabrati hill, just outside of the town, for a scenic view over the entire countryside. Gorgeous.

6. Peć Patriarchate Monastery

The 13th century Patriarchate of Peć monastery is a picturesque sight to see on your travels in Kosovo. There’s four churches inside with vivid paintings.

Only nuns live in the monastery and you will need your passport to enter it, as it is a protected structure. It’s well worth a visit.

7. White Drin Waterfall

This lush waterfall is located at the mouth of the White Drin river and is 25m high. The waterfall is set in a mountain with lakes and a canyon and is seriously pretty.

In the summer, locals hold a high-diving competition from a tall bridge nearby here – it’s mad, but fun.
