Some airlines do have a better track record than others, as found by Airline Ratings when looking into the most dangerous airlines in the world.
They looked at at a range of factors that include: audits from aviation’s governing and industry bodies; government audits; airline’s crash and serious/fatal incident record; industry-leading safety initiatives, and fleet age.
Chances are you’ll only ever fly on the below airlines in super remote areas (or if on a serious budget), as most of them have a ban from flying into both the US and Europe.
Most Dangerous Airlines In The World
This Nepalese airline flies in and out of the mountains in Nepal and had several fatal accidents in 2010 and 2011.
Nepal Airlines has nine fatal accidents in the past eight years, and is banned from flying in the EU.
Afghanistan’s national airline has seen 19 of its fleet written off, with seven fatal incidents. There’s now just five airplanes in use by the airline.
This remote airline is also on the list of air carriers banned in the EU for safety violations. In recent years, the airline has lost three different planes, two with fatalities.
This domestic airline is another Afghan airline that cannot fly into the US or EU because of poor civilian aviation safety record.
Aircraft operated by Trigana Air have been involved in 14 serious incidents, 10 of which saw hull loss. Hull loss is total loss/missing parts of the aircraft. Airline Ratings ranks it with a super low score of just one star out of seven.
This Kazakhstan airline had a fatal crash in 2013, however since then it is taking drastic measures to improve its safety.
