Eating healthy doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice flavour, and these zingy turkey burgers are the perfect example of that. The high-protein turkey mince combined with sauteed peppers and a simple yoghurt sauce is healthy eating at its very tastiest.
As with all our recipes, there are only 7 ingredients and you certainly don’t need to be a professional chef to prepare this dish. The other bonus? This healthy snack will take you less than 30 minutes to prepare from scratch.
Who said eating healthy has to be boring?
Zingy Turkey Burgers: Ingredients
- Mixed peppers
- Ground turkey (chicken will also work just as well)
- Yoghurt
- Red chilis
- Coriander
- Red Onion
- Lemon
Start by prepping all the veg. Only slice half the red onion, as you will need to dice the other half for the burger patties.
Place the sliced veg into a large frying pan over a low to medium heat with some olive oil. You’ll want to cook these slowly to draw the sweet flavour out of them.
Dice the red onions, red chilis and chop the coriander.
Add the red chili and onions to the ground meat, and season with salt and pepper.
Shape them into small mini-burger patties.
To make the sauce, simply mix the yoghurt with chopped coriander and the juice of the lemons and season with lots of black pepper.
Set the sauce to one side while you finish the rest of the cooking.
The mini burgers will only take a couple of minutes to cook on each side. Place them into a hot griddle pan.
You want them nicely browned on the outside and cooked through to the middle. If you aren’t sure, pop a knife in and make sure the juices run clear.
Plate up the dish with the yoghurt sauce on the bottom followed by the sauteed veg on top.
For an extra bit of pizazz, add a little dollop of yoghurt sauce on top and some fresh coriander leaves.
These zingy turkey burgers are one of the tastiest things you will ever eat and the good news is they’re not bad for you either.
