4. Subo Filipino Kitchen
Subo Filipino Kitchen keeps it simple and puts the focus on the food. This no-frills Filipino classic is a favourite among locals for their authentic dishes and hearty servings. Head over to Kimball Ave for the best lumpia this side of the Atlantic.
5. Merla’s Kitchen
At Merla’s off Kimball Ave, they take Filipino food seriously. You’ll find that all the dishes are made slow with tradition in mind from start to finish. Take your pick from their famous Filipino breakfast, pancit, kare kare or sinigang. Either way, come hungry and ready for a delicious meal.
6. Tita Mia’s Filipino Restaurant and Cafe
Housed in Golf Milwaukee Plaza, you’ll find one of the best Filipino joints in the city. Head to Tita Mia’s Filipino Restaurant and Cafe for delicious Filipino fare in addition to a cosy, down-home setting. Call a day ahead, and they will specially prepare the oxtail for your kare-kare.

Last but not least, Logan Square’s Young American is one of Chicago’s best up and coming restaurants. They have a globally inspired menu, but Filipino food is their speciality. Treat yourself to their famous pork sisig and stick around for a few drinks afterwards.
