2. Xunantunich Maya Site

Xunantunich is an Ancient Maya archaeological site in western Belize,  steeped in history. You reach the site by ferry and the views from the top are unbelievable.

Just down the road you’ll find surging rapids that are popular for canoeing, kayaking, tubing and swimming.

3. The Blue Hole

The Great Blue Hole is a large underwater sinkhole that can be seen all the way from space. A popular spot for scuba divers, you’ll get the best view if you fly overhead on a tour.

4. Shark Ray Alley

This popular dive spot in Ambergris Caye has become a hotspot for tourists who want to swim with the huge group of nurse sharks and sting rays.

The animals have become used to swimmers and will get super close to you if you bring some bait. A nerve wracking but amazing experience.

5. Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary

This is the world’s first sanctuary specifically created to protect the elusive jaguar.

It’s quite rare that you will actually spot a jaguar, as they are masters in hiding, but the sanctuary itself is lovely. Come alone or in a small group to get the most out of the green walking trails.
