Instagrammable Spots In The Whitsunday Islands

The 7 Most Instagrammable Spots In The Whitsunday Islands

While Australia was recently named as the most Instagrammable country in the world, we wanted to focus on what might just be the most Instagrammable part of this great country.

One of the most photogenic places in Oz is without a doubt the Whitsunday Islands.

There are 74 Islands and they lie between the northeast coast of Queensland and the Great Barrier Reef. You’re really going to struggle to find a prettier part of the entire planet.

Whitsunday Islands best photo spots:

1. Passage Peak Lookout

You’re going to have to put some serious effort in on the 5km climb up here, but once you get up to the vantage point at 200m you’re in for a serious treat. Well worth it – and just think of the cool beer you can reward yourself with afterwards!

2. Flying over Whitehaven Beach

You can always just go onto the beach itself, but for the Instagram shot of a lifetime you’ve got to jump onto one of the small planes or choppers that circle it daily. A true spectacle.

3. Heart Reef

Again, you’re going to have to get up in the air to capture this truly iconic image but it’ll be well worth it. It’s technically known as Hardy Reef, but you will know what we mean by ‘heart’ when you see the view below.

4. Airlie Beach

With all the sightseeing and sunbathing you’ll be doing here, you’re going to want to let your hair down and party. Nowhere does fun in the sun quite like this little party town where you’ll meet lots of like-minded individuals.

5. Daydream Island

This is the perfect spot for a day trip and chilling on the beach if you’re not going to be actually staying on any of the islands overnight. Grab a cocktail and run your toes through that perfect Whitsunday Islands sand.

6. Sailing a maxi-yacht

With so many islands to see (74 in total!) you’ll struggle with the ferry. Go on a 2-3 day charter on one of these retired racing yachts and you’ll see so much more. Also, you’ll get an epic sunset photo on a boat and nothing tops that.

7. Hayman Island

One of the most exclusive and downright gorgeous islands in the world. It was badly gutted after Cyclone Debbie in 2017, but it is set to re-open with a complete refurbishment in 2019.
