The World’s Largest Overwater Villas are Opening in the Maldives

The largest one- and two-bedroom overwater villas in the world are opening in the Maldives later this month. Luxury hotel Soneva Fushi is launching eight new villas complete with fun waterslides so you can cool off directly from your villa.

Ocean views, the sound of gentle waves and lush jungle surrounds you, with glass panels in the villas allowing you to look down into the waters below.

The new Water Retreats come with slides into the waves below, and outdoor bathrooms with private access to the lagoon. There’s a huge pooldeck with daybed for lounging, and hanging nets over the clear water. But it’s those massive slides that make splashing into the lagoon below so fun!

There’s also a retractable roof over the master bed that lets guests stargaze from the comfort of their villa.

Can you imagine gazing up at the clear sky from your plush bed?

Guests also have private butlers to cater for their every whim and bicycles or tricycles to get around the resort.

Noticeably different from Soneva Jani’s iconic Water Retreats, these new overwater villas at Soneva Fushi are not whitewashed, so the browns of the natural and sustainable wood panels blend in with the surroundings.

The starting price for the one-bedroom Water Retreat is $2,626 per night, and $5,232 per night for the two-bedroom villa. Worth it?
