Whether you want rooftop views, a boujie cocktail at a hidden speakeasy or a simple pint of beer in the sunshine, there’s so many Auckland bars for you. In fact, there’s so many amazing places to booze it up that it can be a little overwhelming deciding where to go – so we’ve done the hard work for you.
Behold: the very best bars in Auckland.
Best bars Auckland:How do these rankings work?
1. Pineapple on Parnell
Blink-and-you’ll-miss-it, this swish ‘n’ stylish cocktail bar has timeless charm and a delightful drinks list to match. Look out for the gold pineapple door knob and get ready to enter a whole new world of cocktails.
2. The Parasol & Swing Company
Loved for its amazing rooftop terrace views and canopy of bright parasols, this hip bar is a must-visit on bright sunny days. And actually, dark days too, as the deck is heated. Their expert Negroni is the best in town.
3. Vodka Room
With three bars & six areas to eat, this is the coolest place you’ll ever find authentic Russian cuisine & rarely sourced vodka. Bonus points for the addictive ‘press for vodka’ button and karaoke.
4. Dr Rudi’s Rooftop Brewing Co.
What’s not to love about Dr Rudi’s? It’s got insane views of Auckland’s Viaduct Harbour, its own on-site brewery and two bowling alleys. With a consistently fun vibe and tasty drinks (and food), this is a failsafe go-to.
5. Jack
Jack is part of The Three Brothers (Harry, George and Jack are three inter-connecting boutique bars, each sporting their own unique vibe.) One of the city’s best kept secrets; if you want a lounge bar with an intimate, sophisticated ambience – Jack is for you.Â
6. Holey Moley
Holey Moley is a cocktail bar, mini-golf course, work of art and all-out cool hub rolled into one fantastic venue. 27 holes have whacky themes such as America’s favourite cartoon family’s couch and the Nine Iron Throne itself. P.S try the Austin Sours cocktail.
7. HeadQuarters
HeadQuarters may call itself a pop up in the Viaduct, but it’s been around for a while and will be around for quite a while longer, and thank God – bars this good need to be kept. It’s a Jack Of All Trades, with a chilled patio area for casual afternoon drinks, a huge sports TV and a wild dance floor.
