1. Ball Cemetary, Springfield

Even as cemetaries go, this one’s pretty creepy. While cemetaries provide a place of comfort for a lot of people, there’s no denying that generally, they’re spooky places. Certainly not somewhere you’d want to be alone at night. But if you were to visit Ball Cemetary alone at night, you might want to be on the lookout. People have reported a tall, shadowy figure of a man attacking visitors at night! Other reports claim to hear the uncontrollable cackles of a woman and have even felt her tugging on their clothes. If you needed anymore reason to not enter a cemetery alone at night, that’s certainly one!

2. Centennial Hall, Valentine

If anywhere’s going to give you the heebie-jeebies, it’s this place. The story of it reads like a horror film, certainly making it one of the most haunted places in Nebraska. Before Centennial Hall was a museum, it was Valentine Public High School. It was built in 1897, but it wasn’t until 1944 that a student died after someone poisoned the end of her clarinet. Shortly after she died, several of the then-teachers said they saw her shadowy figure in the hallways and classrooms. They also said they’d feel horrendously unwell sometimes. Even though the building has been converted into a museum, the spookiness remains. People say they sometimes hear music coming from what was the music room, despite there not being any instruments in the museum for years.

3. Museum of Shadows, Omaha

If you’re going to house supposedly haunted objects, you’re opening yourself up to a whole host of paranormal activity. Before its life as a museum, the building has been a pharmacy, doctors’ office, dentist’s office, saloon, brothel, and more. It’s really had a colourful history, so when that is combined with the haunted artefacts that it now houses, it’s really no wonder that so many spooky things go on here.

If you visit the Museum of Shadows, people say you can expect to see shadowy figures, hear strange noises, and even be touched by ghostly hands. If things couldn’t get creepy and horror-film-like enough, the museum is home to two haunted dolls, Demus and Ayda. 4. Alliance Theatre, Alliance

The Alliance Theatre was originally built to be a hotel in 1903 but it became theatre in 1938. Given its long history, no one can actually pinpoint exactly when the paranormal occurrences started happening. People say it’s been going on as. long as they can remember. Staff report often seeing and hearing inexplicable things. The owner, Gerard Bullard, is all too aware of the theatre’s panaormal guests. Bullard says he often hears footsteps running through the halls and hands clapping, as well seeing ghostly figures. However, he does say that he believes the ghost to be friendly.

5. Bailey House Museum, Brownville

The museum was once the home of Civil War hero, Captain Bailey. With call the creepy things that go on in the museum, many believe it to be the unresting spirit of Captain Bailey that haunts these halls. The story goes that Bailey died when a jealous neighbour poisoned him, for reasons unknown. Museum employee and visitors say that they’ve felt his spirit in the home, with certain doors refusing to stay closed, and piano music filtering through the house.

6. Seven Sisters Road, Otoe County

This road is officially called Road L, but it’s known locally as Seven Sisters Road. As you can imagine, the legend involves the story of seven unfortunate sisters. One day in the late 19th century, they were arguing with a man, there are contrary reports as to whether he was their brother or father, and the argument got so heated that he took the sisters one by one and hung them along the road. It’s a spine-chilling story, and what’s even more creepy is the reports that have come from those brave enough to drive down the road. People say their cars have inexplicably stopped or their car batteries were suddenly drained. People also say they’ve heard the bloodcurdling screams of women in the area, when it seemed like no one was around.

7. Devil’s Canyon, McCook

The state has been the sight of some horrendous acts, but this one might be the most hair raising. When approaching the site, it’s seemingly harmless, but it’s one of the most haunted places in Nebraska. Locals know the area as Devil’s Canyon, the site where a man killed his wife, children, and himself over 100 years ago. The story alone makes the site a spooky location, but there have been many reports of haunting occurrences. The man is said to appear to people who visit the area and cause cars to inexplicably malfunction.
