Switzerland is one of the most expensive countries in the world, but if you know where to find the best bars in Geneva you’ll see just how budget-friendly the nightlife there can be.
While you certainly can check out some of the swanky five-star hotels that this Swiss city is home to, there are a lot of other options for any type of traveller.
In fact, Geneva is home to some of the trendiest bars and unique cocktails that we’ve ever seen. Check them all out or stick to one. Whatever you decide, here’s our list of seven of the best bars in Geneva to help you plan it all out.
Best Bars In GenevaHow do these rankings work?
1. La Vere à Monique
Who’d have thought that the best bar in Geneva would be a self-proclaimed speakeasy that’s tucked away and secretive enough to still be fresh and new? Dirty glamour is what this place is all about, and drinking here feels as if you’ve just stepped into a 1920s Prohibition house. Oh, and the cocktails? Some of the most creative we’ve ever seen. Order the Malice in Wonderland and thank us later.
2. Mr. Barber
As mentioned, Geneva is the (surprising) home of many a trendy bar, and Mr. Barber is the perfect example of that. Similar to other top-notch cocktail bars in the city, this place serves up trendy, creative drinks you’ve definitely never tried before. Try the little duck in a tub, which they serve in an actual mini bathtub. Vibes here are great, so you’re going to want to order at least a few.
3. L’Atelier Cocktail Club
What’s with Geneva and quality cocktails? We don’t know, but we love it. At L’Atelier Cocktail Club, you can expect to get a perfectly-crafted cocktail every time you order. Talented mixologists are standard here, so you always know you’re getting quality. We especially love the super laidback vibes of this bar, which isn’t something you’d traditionally expect with cocktails of such quality.
4. Voodoo Reyes
The owners of the bar will tell you that Voodoo Reyes is more than a bar, it’s a voyage of flavours that surprise and delight. It’s an ancestral adventure that imposes itself on you, and it’s every bit as delightful as it sounds. Here, you can order some of the most creative cocktails in Europe, like the Crocodile Tears, which is served in a literal min crocodile head.
5. N’vY Bar
Contemporary artwork and colourful design accents make this hotel bar feel more like a trendy house than a local bar. N’vy Bar is one of the most upscale bars on this list, and we also think it’s one of the most Instagrammable bars in Geneva. Head here for great drinks and an even better atmosphere as you relax amongst the plush purple couches.
6. Le Petit Reine
If you don’t fancy anything fancy, then strut your stuff over to Le Petit Reine, which is one of the best bars in Geneva if you’re looking to truly mix and mingle with the locals. This bar-cafe-restaurant feels as if you’re attending a local house party, and we love those kinds of vibes.
7. Little Barrel Bar
You’ll find this discreet little bar just steps away from Lake Geneva, which only adds to its charm. Sit on little barrels as you sip on fine rum and cocktails. The atmosphere here is more laidback than at other bars, which makes it a great place for drinks and actual conversation.
