1. Joshua Tree

Located 131 miles from LA, it will be almost impossible to cover the whole part in one day. Those visiting for a day trip will want to try one of the shorter hikes or walks.

We recommend the 49 Palms Oasis trail, Cottonwood Spring trail, and The Hidden Valley trail, all these trails are moderately easy and along the way, you will see  refreshing pools of water, fresh springs, and Bighorn sheep. Not to forget the stunning backdrop of the park itself!

2. Santa Catalina Island

Used in the 1920s as a location for many a Hollywood film, this idyllic island is well worth the visit.

The quaint town of Avalon has the island’s largest selection of hotels, shops, and restaurant. The town boast boasts breathtaking ocean views and palm-fringed beaches. Don’t forget your camera!

3. Big Sur

About a 3-hour drive from LA, the undying natural wonder of this area is well worth the day trip.

The drive along the pacific coast itself is truly stunning but sure to visit Hearst Castle, perched high on a hilltop this landmark has sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean. Pack your swimsuit and get ready for an adventure!

Explore a piece of California’s history, the charming town of San Juan Capistrano is well worth a visit.

With buildings that date back to 1776 such as the Mission San Juan Capistrano, the history and beauty of this town are undeniable. Take a walking tour of the Los Rios Historic District, which has some beautiful historic homes and museums.

5. Temecula

Forget driving all the way to Napa Valley, Temecula is your next best destination for a day of wine tasting. With over 30 wineries, you can jump between at your own leisure.

About a 2 hour drive from LA, this retro city is the perfect spot for those looking for a truly Instagrammable pic.

Known for hosting Coachella and pool parties, Palm Springs has a lot more to offer than just a cool vibe. The perfect dessert oasis retreat to relax and unwind. If you’re feeling active there are plenty of hikes around from Indian Canyons, Palm Canyon,  Andreas Canyon, to Murray Canyon.
