1. Fly from Bangkok to Krabi

This is the easiest way to reach Krabi – flights take just 1.5 hours, leaving from Don Muang airport. AirAsia, Thai Lion Air and Nok Air fly throughout the day and you can find tickets starting from just $16 USD one way if you book well in advance. High season will be more expensive!

Just keep in mind that the airport is 13km away from Krabi Town and 28km away from Ao Nang, so you’ll need to arrange a transfer (shuttle bus or taxi) to your final destination.

2. Take a Bus

Buses fron Bangkok to Krabi usually leave from Sai Tai Mai (Southern Bus Terminal). The journey takes about 10-12 hours, so most buses leave overnight. You’ll arrive in Krabi Town in the morning.

You can book a public bus ticket at the station or book a ‘tourist’ bus or minivan in advance, which will usually pick you up from your hotel. Bus tickets cost about $20 USD.

4. Get the Train

Okay, so you can’t actually get the train to Krabi itself, but you can get the train to Surat Thani. From here, it’s a three hour minivan or bus journey to Krabi. The express train takes 8 hours 45 minutes and the overnight sleeper (which is a handy option) takes just under 12 hours.

Once you arrive at Surat Thani station, you’ll see buses lined up that will depart for Krabi Town or Ao Nang.
