The 7 Most Instagrammable Spots In Udaipur

When it comes to ‘gram-worthy spots, there are endless Instagrammable Spots across the globe, but where are the best places for an Udaipur Instagram shot?

From urban skylines and tropical rainforest waterfalls to cotton-candy-hued cafés, we’ve rounded up the most photogenic places in every country in the world. The places where you’ll capture travel photos that you’ll want to share with everyone you know.

Visiting Udaipur?

These are the top seven spots you can’t afford to leave off your feed.

1. City Palace

Udaipur’s City Palace is the most popular thing to see in the city. It’s still owned by the Mewar royal family and is an incredible example of how the royals lived. A blend of Medieval, European and Chinese architecture, there’s colourful mosaics, scenic balconies and lush gardens to explore.

2. Sahelion Ki Bari

This ‘Garden of the Maids of Honour’ is a tranquil oasis in the city and a pretty place to snap some Udaipur Instagram shots. The garden is said to have been made for the 48 girls Maharana Sangram Singh II (1710-1734) received as part of his dowry.

3. Gangaur Ghat

This picturesque ghat (usually a place with steps leading to the water where locals hang out and bathe) is a must-visit at sunset. It’s right on the banks of Lake Pichola and when the last of the sun hits the ghat, the stone lights up beautifully.

4. Taj Lake Palace

Built in 1746, Taj Lake Palace is a luxury hotel made entirely of marble and features majestic architecture. To reach the hotel, you must take a private boat out to the palace on Lake Pichola.

Not only that, it’s also been the site for several iconic film shoots like the James Bond film, Octopussy.

5. 1559 AD

One of the must-do things in Udaipur is to have dinner or drinks on one of the many rooftop terraces surrounding the lake. The prettiest of them all (and the tastiest!) is 1559 AD. Sip on a cocktail and soak up the views.

6. Lake Badi

Get out of the city and see some countryside and more lakes (Udaipur isn’t the City of Lakes for no reason). Lake Badi is a beautiful and easy hike that’s just 12km outside of the city centre. Come at sunrise and buy some local chai tea to sip on when you reach the top.

7. Lake Pichola

The footbridge is particularly pretty, as are the views of Taj Lake Palace. This artificial lake was built in the year of 1362 AD and is now one of the top photo spots in the city. No trip to Udaipur is complete without a boat trip around this lake.
