1. Maquoketa Caves State Park

3. Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden

This beautiful garden in the heart of downtown Des Moines has it all – from a majestic Bonsai collection to uncommon plant species (like Carrie the Corpse Flower), to seven acres of outdoor garden.

5. Bridges of Madison County

Madison County is the Covered Bridge Capital of Iowa, with the largest group of covered bridges that exists in one area in the western half of the Mississippi Valley. These picturesque bridges are a key feature of the state.
