Mövenpick Resort Waverly Phu Quoc is the Perfect Island Retreat

After almost two years of its borders being shut to tourists, Vietnam recently launched a new tourist entry scheme for ‘sandbox’ style package trips. Tourists can do their 7 days quarantine at a resort and enjoy all the wonderful amenities. One of the most popular destinations for this scheme is the island of Phu Quoc, just a one hour flight from Ho Chi Minh City. With many resorts to choose from on the island, it can be tough to decide, but one resort comes out on top: Mövenpick Resort Waverly Phu Quoc.

Want total privacy, incredible facilities and your very own pool? Mövenpick has it all and so much more.

A five-star beach resort, Mövenpick offers high-end facilities, with a stellar approach to service from its Swiss heritage, while showcasing the warm hospitality of the Vietnamese culture. The resort has diverse accommodation options; from the stylish, great-value family hotel with 305 seaview balcony rooms, to 79 luxurious villas that are perfect for couples or groups of friends.

Mövenpick Resort Waverly Phu Quoc is an idyllic island getaway

The resort has a private beach and 6 (!) swimming pools

Situated on a 2.5km stretch of sand cradling the bay strait from Ong Lang to Cua Can, the resort has private access to a palm-dotted coastline, golden shores and stunning turquoise waters. There’s six swimming pools (including two kids’ pools) with ocean views. As soon as you arrive to Mövenpick Resort Waverly Phu Quoc you feel instantly at home. The resort seamlessly blends luxury with comfort, with a beautiful lobby area and friendly staff.

We booked into one of the three-bedroom seaview villas, which you are right on the beach and perfect for a group of six people. Staff bring you back and forth from the villa in a golf buggy, which is always a vacation bonus! The villas are tucked away yet also within easy walking distance of the main pool and dining areas. Best of both worlds.

How about your very own tropical villa with a private pool and a sunken cabana? Villas here are styled in “modern tropical” theme and are incredibly photogenic. The main living space wows when you walk in, with views of the private pool and beach front. It feels totally secluded and there’s everything you need for an enjoyable stay. Villas have plenty of space for everyone, with master bedroom opening directly onto the pool deck and the two other rooms have their own private entrance. Visiting with five friends, it never felt too crowded yet had lots of hangout space for gathering together.

Each seaview villa features three spacious bedrooms (each with en suite bathroom with bathtub and shower) complimentary toiletries, free Wifi, tea & coffee facilities, open living space features a large lounge, dining area, a kitchenette, a HDTV and free Wifi.

There’s various types of villas available, some studio ones or duplex, as well as villas with a charming lakeview. Each villa has its own private pool which is a real highlight of this resort. A sunken cabana is lovely for sunset cocktails or breakfast by the pool.

The resort goes above and beyond with luxury extras

One thing that really sets Mövenpick Resort Waverly Phu Quoc apart from other options is the luxury extras, such as villa butler service, private villa BBQ dinner or sunset foot massage. If you’ve never experienced a floating breakfast before, this is the place to try it. Waking up to a floating basket of fresh fruits and juice with eggs and other goodies is something you’ll remember for a long time!

The resort also has a lovely spa (which is temporarily in a private villa) where you can indulge in a relaxing massage. The treatment room is peaceful and spa staff highly trained. Yet another reason why you’ll be walking on air around this resort! The complimentary bicycles for guests are great fun and perfect for nipping to breakfast or the pool.

Mövenpick Resort Waverly Phu Quoc also offers fun activities each day, from sunrise yoga to beach football or bootcamp workouts. Of course, you can also just switch off, relax and laze by your private pool all day… We won’t judge!

Food and drink are 5-star quality

We loved the private BBQ dinner at the villa, when resort chefs set up a barbecue outside and cooked fresh seafood and meats. They also set up a delicious array of salads and side dishes inside, and even beautifully set the table in the living room. When you’re staying somewhere as stunning as this villa, you won’t want to leave. So, having a five-star dinner in the villa itself ticks all the boxes. The fresh crab and grilled oysters were a real highlight and really showcase the island’s incredible food produce.

There’s a daily breakfast buffet with an egg station, cheese, charcuterie, fruits and more. Oh, and don’t miss the daily ‘Chocolate Happy Hour’ in the main restaurant by the pool. It’s complimentary for all guests and is a real treat. Indulge in a chocolate dipping fountain and all sorts of chocolately delicacies!

It’s also the perfect location to explore Phu Quoc island itself

Mövenpick Resort Waverly Phu Quoc and Mövenpick Residence Phu Quoc is located at 1 Ong Lang Beach, Cua Duong Village, Phu Quoc, Vietnam. It’s just a 35-minute transfer from Phu Quoc International Airport and the resort offers a shuttle service. The resort is on the north side of the island and there’s plenty of scenic beaches to enjoy with watersport activities.

Guests can trek through a dense rainforest that leads to a waterfall or bask in the serenity of coconut-shaded beaches. A delicious food tour through the night market, or visits to the pepper farm, pearl farm or fish sauce factory offer glimpses into the local Vietnamese way of life.

If you want to experience the rural beauty of Phu Quoc with the same level of quality and luxury that you’d find at some of the world’s top vacation spots, Mövenpick Resort Waverly Phu Quoc is the place to be.
