2. Pompeii

The ancient city of Pompeii was destroyed 2000 years ago in AD 79, but perfectly preserved by the volcanic ashes as the residents fled. A poignant learning experience with great photo opportunities.

3. Capri

If you’re really lucky, you’ll have time to spend a couple of days out on this island. It is expensive though, so a day trip out from Naples is the best option for most. Climb to the top for lunch and some cracking vistas of the blue waters.

Locals could argue for weeks about where to get the best local pizza in Naples, but we’ve gone for this cracking little cute spot. The pizza is absolutely to die for and 100% the real deal.

5. Basilica Reale Pontificia San Francesco da Paola

You’ll find this huge and imposing church in Piazza del Plebiscito, the city’s main square. It looks gorgeous and is especially striking in early in the morning as the city comes to life.

6. Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte

This museum is dedicated to international arts and treasures, but the building itself is every bit as spectacular as the gems it holds inside. Plenty of beautiful spots to photograph.

You can’t come all the way to Naples and not get a picture of the only active volcano on mainland Europe. It sits 9km from Naples itself, so make the trip for a sunset shot with Naples and the volcano in the background.
