1. Town Hall Square
Town Hall Square is Riga’s main square area and is where the infamous House of the Blackheads are. This main square is in central Riga and most of the sights are easy to get to from here.

3. The Freedom Monument
The Freedom Monument is a landmark that stands tall and proud of the soldiers that lost their lives in the Latvian War of Independence. This monument was built 15 years after the war ended in 1935 and stands 42 metres tall.
This landmark is one of the most revered in the city and you should come and see it in person.
4. Art Nouveau Museum
The Art Nouveau Museum is dedicated to one of the founders of Riga’s Art Nouveau movement, Konstantīns Pēkšēns. This museum is actually where he lived and features many important works of art from his era.
Perhaps the coolest thing about this museum is that amazing spiral staircase right before you enter the museum.
5. Riga Cathedral
Riga Cathedral is the seat of the Archbishop and has been a place of worship for over 800 years in Riga. It is the most recognisable building in Riga and locals more commonly refer to it as Dome Cathedral.
The top of the cathedral features a weathercock to help tell the direction of the wind. This weathercock weighs a hefty 86 kilograms!
6. Ethnographic Open-Air Museum of Latvia
The Ethnographic Open-Air Museum of Latvia is unlike any other museum you have ever been to. Here, 118 traditional Latvian buildings are carefully on display here to show you the cultural differences between the provinces of Latvia.
You’ll get a real appreciation for Latvian culture and architecture at this open-air museum.
7. Latvian National Museum of Art
For the most complete history of Latvia, come to the Latvian National Museum of Art. Here, you’ll find amazing works of Latvian and international art spread out over two floors.
Be sure to make your way to the rooftop terrace after the museum, where you will see some epic views of Riga.
