The 7 Most Instagrammable Spots In Latvia

Riga is the capital city of Latvia and home to half a million people.

Most people come only to Riga for a long weekend, so that’s where we have decided to focus our attention. The city itself is right at the mouth of the river River Daugava on the Baltic Sea.

It’s a city full of charm, gorgeous old buildings and interesting culture. What’s not to love?

1. The view from St Peter’s Church

The old town is what Riga is all about and you’ll find no better way to appreciate it than from the view on this observation deck.

2. Black Magic Cocktail Bar

Walking into this bar is like a cross between a Harry Potter movie and science lab. Amazing drinks and some great quirky Latvia Instagram shots to be had.

3. House of Blackheads

With the large cobbled square outside this building has been around since the 14th century (when it was made for the Blackheads, a place for unmarried merchants, shipowners, and foreigners in Riga).

4. Latvian Railway History Museum

Well off the beaten tourist track but if you are interested in trains and getting wonderfully unique and colourful images then this is the spot for you.

5. Latvian National Theatre

You might not understand what’s happening during the show, but Latvia is a country that prides itself on culture and its theatre.

The literal translation is “three brothers” referring to the cute little trio of buildings on this back street beside each other.

7. Skyline Bar

After all the photos, posing and walking around the city you’ll want to cap off your day with a nice drink. The view at the top of this hotel is the best place to get a Latvia Instagram shot.
