The main street leading into the city centre, it runs from Amsterdam Central railway station to Dam Square.

The Netherlands’ largest art museum is home to work by masters such as Vincent Van Gogh, Johannes Vermeer, Frans Hals and Rembrandt van Rijn.

It’s in a beautiful 19th-century building, and the sculptured gardens have slick exhibitions during the warmer months.
