One of the most unforgettable hotel experiences has got to be an African safari lodge stay. Sleeping in the wilderness underneath the stars, in incredible luxury, is a dream for many.
But which lodge to stay in? One of the very best in South Africa is Londolozi Lodge, which has five different camps to choose from that are all exquisite.
Where exactly is Londolozi Lodge?
Londolozi is situated on the Sand River, in the heart of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve within the famous Greater Kruger National Park.
Wild animals move freely across this huge park, offering spectacular game viewing and a true wilderness experience. Want to see elephants? They might roam past you at breakfast. Londolozi’s rangers also have a special talent for spotting wild leopards.
What’s so special about this hotel?
Each of the five camps have a uniquely different vibe, yet all are beautiful. Londolozi’s Private Granite Suites feature outdoor bathtubs where you can watch elephants play in the river.
A sunset river bar and sunken cocktail lounge are suspended high above the Sand River for even more views.
Founders Camp is home to the Londolozi yoga deck, a sanctuary that’s high in the arms of a 500-year-old ebony tree.
The Pioneers Camp is popular with honeymooners, as suites are cosy and romantic.
All camps have swimming pools, lantern-lit walkways and the opportunity to experience a safari. Londolozi’s rangers specialise in photographic safaris and will help you get the best angles for taking photos.
Plus, you can relax after the safari drive with an on-site massage. You won’t want to leave.
How much does it cost to stay here?
Each camp’s suites vary in price, with the Varty Camp starting from R13,950 a night ($1,036). The Private Granite Suites start from R25,750 ($1,910).

OMG, this hotel is stunning! But I’d admit the cost is steep! I guess that’s fine though for a luxurious lodging like this. I mean, you can’t find that kind of 5-star room with a majestic view. I’m curious to know what kind of food do they serve here? Is it as luxurious too? I hope yes so I can say a thousand dollars for a stay is worth it. Still, I will consider this hotel as a luxurious option for lodging when we head to SA. Thanks for this!
