Minneapolis brunch is up there with the very best in the world, which is hardly surprising when you consider what a great foodie pedigree this city has.
There are many things that the world disagrees on these days but brunch being one of the greatest meals of the week is not one of them. Who doesn’t love huge portions of food served with cocktails and sweets in the early morning?
With so many places to choose from it was hard to narrow it down, but these are the seven best Minneapolis brunch spots…
1. Birchwood Cafe
Whether you are vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, omnivorous or all about the bacon, Birchwood Cafe has plenty of lovingly handcrafted dishes for you to enjoy. Their food is real comfort food that is cooked with precision and beautifully presented. You’ll find lots of great dishes to choose from but their waffles really are something special.
2. Mercury Dining Room and Rail
The Mercury Dining Room and Rail is the perfect convergence of a historic railroad building and the hustle of being in the heart of downtown Minneapolis. This is a truly unique restaurant that acts as a wonderful place to spend some time eating brunch. Their food is not only local, sustainable and organic, but it’s handled brilliantly by their team of expert chefs. By far one of the best Minneapolis brunch spots for sure.
3. Hen House Eatery
At Hen House Eatery they use the freshest locally-sourced ingredients to serve an all-day breakfast. 4. Hot Plate
The menu at Hot Plate is packed full of serious comfort dishes like biscuits and gravy, corned beef hash and eggs Benedict. There are so many great options it can be hard to settle on just one. However, their waffles with whipped cream, pecans and a side of crispy bacon with maple syrup is as good a brunch dish as you’ll ever have and a serious treat.
5. Al’s Breakfast
This hot Minneapolis brunch spot is of the most unique breakfast restaurants in the county and was opened by Al Bergstrom in 1950. The building is only ten feet wide and the counter has room for 14 people. However, all their breakfasts are made from scratch with pure love, and the atmosphere is always buzzing. You will struggle to get a seat so come early.
6. Wise Acre Eatery
The Wise Acre Eatery is a restaurant with its very own farm that serves brunch all week long. It’s all about their insanely fresh produce here, which is an absolute delight to eat. Their chefs make the most of it with some wonderfully creative dishes. Just take a look at their breakfast tostadas with house made chorizo below. By far one of the best Minneapolis brunch spots and a must visit.
7. Hola Arepa
Venezuelan and Colombian flavours combine at Hola Arepa to form a brilliant buzzing restaurant that serves up their take on Latin street food.
