Best Things to Eat in Detroit
1. Burgers at Grey Ghost
Grey Ghost Detroit is a stylish eatery that’s all about showcasing the art of butchery. The burgers here are on another level to what you’ve tried before: gourmet and full of goodness.
They keep things simple with only a cheeseburger on the menu. Add an egg on top for a real treat.
2. Pizza at Buddy’s Pizza
Buddy’s Pizza arguably serves up the best Detroit-style pizzas in the city. The unique square-shape pizzas are a locals favourite because of the generous portions of cheese in their pizzas.
With 16 locations in the city, when you hop into Buddy’s for some Detroit-style pizza, get the appropriately-named, Detroiter Pizza.
3. Chicken And Waffles at Honest John’s
This is the sort of place you come when you really want to treat yourself with a bit of a cheat meal for brunch. They are open all week long from 7am, but it’s way more fun is to come at the weekend and let you hair down properly with one of their house cocktails.
The one tiny problem you’ll have is that everything on the menu looks so good that you’ll have a tough time choosing one dish!
4. Ribs at Woodpile BBQ Shack
Their meats are smoked fresh over night using only wood smoke and time. As they say about their sides, they “remind us of what Mom makes”. The mixed meat platter here with the dry smoked ribs is a thing of pure deliciousness.
Do make sure to keep some room for their homemade ice cream, which they make on a weekly basis.
5. Dry Aged Steak at Roast
A proper high end steak house where the atmosphere is always buzzing and the service is always superb.
The menu features burgers and other great beef dishes but the 16 oz. dry aged in house steak for 30 days, smothered with shallot confit is a thing of absolute beauty.
6. Ice Cream Sandwich at Treat Dreams
The place to come in the city if you want to treat yourself to something sweet. Ice cream, cakes, cookies and sweets all feature.
Their speciality and the stuff of your dreams though is the ice cream sandwich which is about a tasty a treat as you will ever eat. Absolute perfection and lots of flavours to choose from.
7. Wings at Detroit Wing Company
They win awards for their wings at a local and a national level. You only have to see them on huge platters to start licking your lips, and know you are in for a serious treat.
They now have five locations which is a good thing: you you never want to be too far away from them! There’s lots of great sauces, but you can’t look past the classic buffalo. Off-the-charts good.
Take the kids to the store with you and let each kid pick out a favorite food to share with their friends. Plan on having plenty of sodas, chips, and ranch dressing on hand to supplement what they’ll be eating.
